Since the WRX is still in the shop, I’m still cruising around in a rental Sonata and will be for a while. Now that track season is here, I have some new obstacles to deal with. Being a small program without our own track, we borrow the local high school’s facilities but we aren’t allowed to use their equipment. I’m stuck carrying around all the tools of the trade - shots and discus, cones for drills, measuring tapes, starting blocks, and the biggie - the standards for the high jump. In the WRX, I’d just throw the long items into a cargo box and call it good. In the Sonata, things get a bit more complicated.

I’m thankful that I only have two kids! The next trick will be loading all the backpacks and duffel bags on top of all the other gear.

I once hauled a bunch of 8 foot wooden quarter round trim in the Fit. It just barely fit with some of it resting o the dash.

I don’t mind carrying long objects for short distances, but it sucks having to carry these things around for the entire season.

I really want my car back.
